New Product Development Manager
Location:
Libertyville, IL.
General Description:
The main purpose of the Development department is to contribute to the achievement of the Environmental Science Divisions ESDs) commercial goals by the: i) development of new products, ii) defense of existing products through the re-registration process
in conjunction with ESDs Manager, Regulatory Affairs, iii) effective coordination & communication of technical advice to customers
and ESD team members, and iv) resolution of quality issues in conjunction with ESD Supply Chain and Customer Services colleagues.
As a member of ESDs Management Team, this position contributes significantly to the creation and implementation of overall
business strategy.
Principal Responsibilities:
-Provide ESD with technical leadership for the development of new business and product ideas.
-Manage a team currently consisting of 2 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employees plus 1 full-time employee contracted from a temporary agency, as well as external contractors and consultants. The department includes in-house formulation development and analytical chemistry capabilities.
-Contract efficacy and chemistry studies to 3rd party labs, acting as study sponsor when appropriate.
-Oversee production and quality of all data generated by contractors and the formulation and analytical team. Data is usually required to be compliant with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards if submitted for USEPA registration purposes.
-Assist in the development & implementation of the ESD strategy and Medium/Long Range Plans.
-Represent ESD in global strategy & regional development meetings with parent company and other affiliates.
-Provide guidance on scientific subjects and the overall technical needs of ESDs business activity. Act as the prime customer-communicator of technical knowledge and advice. Provide internal/external training as required.
-Prepare or oversee production of technical information including data summaries, presentations, and technical brochures. Promote ESD products in customer visits and through the publication or presentation of technical articles or papers in conferences, scientific and trade journals.
-Monitor & report on industry/competitor trends & activities from a technical/scientific viewpoint.
-Effectively interface with all ESD function leaders such that relevant business needs are met.
-Achieve product development and technical service goals as set in conjunction with the Managing Director.
Experience:
-10 years of experience preferably in non-crop pest control.
-Extensive technical knowledge of main markets for ESD products.
-Familiarity with Federal and State regulatory requirements.
-Working knowledge of GLP requirements.
-Hands on experience in a technical (research, development or regulatory) environment.
-Knowledge of pilot plant-scale up preparations and experience of transferring technology to commercial production an advantage.
-Excellent presentation, communication and computer skills are required.
Education:
-M.S. or PhD in a Biological Science

-Up to 40% Travel
