Crop Stress Management Scientist
Location:
Long Grove, IL.
General Description:
Responsible for: design, execution and management of a tiered screening program in the laboratory, growth chamber, and greenhouse, focused on the generation and evaluation of primary lead compounds in plant stress tolerance; design of methods and evaluation of plant growth regulator (PGR) effects on plant stress physiology; analysis and interpretation of experimental data and preparation of presentations, reports and recommendations.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop methods for studying plant stress physiology.
Design and implement reliable and efficient in vitro and whole plant stress assays.
Develop and execute a tiered screening program to discover and characterize new plant growth regulators that mitigate stress.
Conduct laboratory, growth chamber, and greenhouse research on lead candidates.
Establish and manage a database of screening results.
Analyze and interpret data, prepare and present results and conclusions, and make recommendations.
Actively participate in cross-functional project teams.
Provide scientific information to support Research, Development, Regulatory, and Marketing groups.
Education/Experience: Required experience
M.S. or Ph.D. in plant biology, agronomy, or horticulture. Minimum of 3 years of plant physiology research experience. Expertise in experimental design and statistics.
Minimum of 3 years experience in whole plant discovery screening for commercial agricultural products. Fundamental understanding of tiered screening, hit to lead optimization, lead characterization, and field candidate selection. Expertise in screening data management.
Desired experience:
Stress physiology research
Basic or applied PGR research.
Project management.
