LIBERTYVILLE, IL., December 11, 2013 – Valent BioSciences Corporation is pleased to announce that its US-based operations have earned another three-year certification of compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards. The certification comes as the result of a full, system-wide audit by Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc. (PJR), the first such audit since VBC achieved ISO-certification in 2010.
Valent BioSciences is a worldwide leader in the development and commercialization of biorational products. Biorationals are products typically derived from biological origins that are highly specific in their activity while providing economic, health, and/or environmental benefits. Biorational products include microbial insecticides, fungicides, and nematicides, as well as plant growth regulators used in production agriculture and for managing plant growth, quality and stress in crops.

The company’s current certification applies to VBC’s management systems, and plans already are being discussed for pursuit of certification for the new state of the art biorational manufacturing facility in Osage, Iowa, scheduled to begin production in mid- 2014. Quality management of all manufacturing operations is critical to support biorational products, especially for companies such as VBC who have a truly global footprint.
This year’s audit results were particularly important – not only in terms of the auditors’ findings but also as validation for the company’s internal, continuous improvement process launched in 2010. VBC’s next full-systems audit is scheduled for 2016.
